“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” Matthew 6:33
Our Beliefs
“The Bible is our rule of faith, and Christ alone is Lord.” This verse from a Church of God heritage hymn, sums up our belief system.
The Church of God does not have an official statement of beliefs, but we have listed for you some of the beliefs that are reflective of our movement.
- Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died on the cross for our sins. He rose from the dead, three days later. Through His sacrifice we are able to obtain salvation.
- The Body of Christ is the church, which consists of all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Therefore, all members of the church are those who are born again.
- There is no need for denominations, membership or man-made organization.
- All members of the church are called to live a holy life.
Our History
The First Church of God in Kittanning is affiliated with the Church of God Reformation Movement, with offices located in Anderson, Indiana. This non-denominational movement began in the 1800’s, following the civil war.
The Church of God Reformation Movement began under the ministry of D.S. Warner in pursuit of holiness and unity within the true church. Warner sought a church that was not separated by denominations, but united together through salvation in Jesus Christ; a church that acted and lived upon the foundation established in Scripture.
Today the Church of God exists across the United States, and around the world. Autonomous in nature, each congregation brings their own personality to the movement, but we all work together for the good of the kingdom. For more information on the Church of God, visit www.JesusIsTheSubject.org.
